Open Area (Arena)
The top left panel is called open area. Basically in this area, everything is known to yourself and others. All the information including skills, attitude, talent, knowledge and behaviour. This is the most ideal area to work with people because in this area, your team members and yourself are most productive and effective. Your capabilities and working style are known to your members and everyone is able to communicate effectively.
Usually it is existing team members that are occupying bigger area of this quadrant because they have known and understand each other for a longer period of time. Newly join members can also slowly expand this area by giving or accepting comments from other team members. Managers or team leaders plays an important role in expanding this area by giving feedback among the group members and also individual for blind areas. It is also to develop and open, respectful and helpful working culture in an organisation. (Chapman, 2014)
