Unknown Area
The forth window known as unknown area whereby it contains information, feelings, latent abilities, aptitudes, experiences and others that are unknown to a person him/herself and also unknown to others.
This can be caused by traumatic past experiences or events which can be unknown for a lifetime. Most of the unknown areas would be expected in younger people and people who is lack of experience or self-belief. A person hidden qualities and capabilities can be prompted through self-discovery or observation by others. Open communication or counseling is also an effective way to minimize the unknown area and thus create an effective communication. People with the opportunity to try new things is often a useful way to find out their unknown abilities, and thus reduce the unknown area. Managers and leaders stand an important role by creating an environment that to encourage and to promote the process of self-discovery by constructive observation and providing feedback to team members. It is a widely accepted industrial fact that the majority of staff in any organization are at any time working well within their potential. Creating a culture, climate and expectation for self-discovery helps people to fulfill their potential and thereby to achieve and to contribute more to organizational performance. (Chapman, 2014)
